    Description

Offered is a 1920 stock certificate from the
    Phoenix Oil Exploration Company.
Per an Arizona Republic newspaper article dated April 1920, Arizona has oil in large quantities; is the supposition of a large number of Phoenix business men and women. This fact is based upon the reports of several of the leading oil geologists of the west Mr J. E. Faber, who has been actively engaged in locating oil structures for the past 20 years, has made a most, favorable report on a tract of land the northwest part of Maricopa county. Mr. Faber who has never drilled a "duster," says: "It is clearly evident to me that there is oil, and in vast quantities'" The Phoenix Oil Exploration Company has been recently organized for the purpose of drilling in this field by a number of local business men and women. It is organized under the laws of the state of Arizona, and is capitalized at 0,000 fully paid and non-assessable. It is divided into 2000 shares at per share. There is to be no promotion stock and every dollar will be used honestly for the purpose set forth in the corporate organization. No promises are made, except a dependable, above-board square deal. Phoenix Oil Exploration Company, 137 North Central Avenue. Phoenix, Arizona. I have lived in Phoenix since 1976. Research tells me the first oil well in Arizona was not until 1958. They are mostly gas wells. 8 ¼” x 10 ¾”. Folded, but otherwise clean. Never surrendered.
