Item Description:
PLANET OF THE APES METAL LUNCHBOX from Aladdin Industries 1974. This very rare R-7 embossed lunchkit is based on the short-lived 14-epsiode TV series on CBS.
Storyline: Based on the original 1968 POTA movie - Hurled 1,100 years into the future, astronauts Alan Virdon and Pete Burke find themselves in a society where humans are subservient to super-intelligent apes. Their situation is made more bearable by Galen (played here by Roddy McDowall), a young sympathetic chimp who comes to question whether humans are, indeed, an inferior species.

One of our all-time favorite TV-based kits – and a hard one to find in this condition.
Simply a must-have for any fan of this ongoing sci-fi franchise!
Condition: Box is complete and correct (including the original wire thermos holder). Box has no blemishes to the raised areas so typical with these vintage embossed boxes - truly beautiful panels throughout.
Nice clean rim panels all around.
Very light rim wear on front - with only the tiniest of dimples on top left corner on back.  Metal hardware is nice and shiny.  Inside is also very clean with minor rubbings - with no prior ownership markings.  Box in overall strong Excellent plus C-8.5 condition.  Thermos decals are clean overall with minor rubbings – in overall Excellent plus C-8 condition.
From my personal collection – stored carefully in a cool, dry, smoke-free room away from sunlight.
