    Description

    The Wounaan tagua carvers are some of the best tagua carvers in the world. We have been buying and selling their tagua carvings for more than 25 years.
    Here you have another vintage  carving. I suspect I have had this turtle carving for 25 years or more. When I came across this box of old carvings it was like finding some old friends.
    The spot on the side of the turtle is the natural hole all tagua nuts have. It is where the nut would have sprouted if it had remained on the jungle floor. The artist filled it in before he polished the carving.
    This carving is also lightly dyed with a cocobolo wood chip dye.
